Abstract: |
An evaluation, comprising the excavation of 29 machined trenches on land proposed for development to the north of the Iron Age hillfort of Great Woodbury, and the enclosure of Little Woodbury (a Scheduled Ancient Monument), identified and excavated a known ring-ditch but failed to locate another similar feature. A series of ditches was also found and artefacts recovered suggested activity in the area during the Bronze Age, contemporary with or later than the barrow cemetery suggested by the presence of ring ditches and an extant barrow mound.
