Abstract: |
Three watching briefs were carried out on three different stretches of the city wall. The first was during repair to a buttress (chainage 2531.2) which involved a trench being dug to establish the nature and depth of foundations. This revealed a void between the buttress and the parapet wall below ground surface. The second watching brief was undertaken during the replacement and repointing of stonework (chainage 3316-3324). Only small areas of core work were visible at any one time making interpretation limited. The third watching brief again proved limited, and archaeological interpretations were not possible (chainage 3061.8-3089). [Au(abr)] |
