Abstract: |
The site was in an area of known archaeological potential. The area sustained a fairly active population through the prehistoric period, though during the medieval and post-medieval periods, Salt Hill itself remained a small hamlet. The potential for disturbing evidence was therefore considered high; Roman, Saxon and medieval low; and post-medieval evidence moderate to low due to the disturbance caused by the presence of the post-medieval Swan public house on the site.
