Abstract: |
Excavation within the rear yard revealed no trace of cobbles, but broken-up concrete suggested that there had been a concrete surface prior to the modern tarmacadam one. Modern brick rubble in the trench within the outbuilding indicated that it was a relatively recent extension to the hotel and may have replaced some structure built in the later 19th or 20th century. The First Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1857 indicated outbuildings in this location. [Au(abr)] |
