Abstract: |
Five test-pits were excavated in order to determine the presence, or not, of any archaeology on the site. Of primary interest was the existence of any archaeological features or deposits contemporary with the Roman material from the 1st and 2nd century AD found to the north of the assessment area. The evaluation failed to reveal any archaeological features within the assessment area. Indeed the archaeological evidence revealed a lack of intensive activity on the site until the 18th century. Prior to the 18th century the only find recovered was a single sherd of late 13th century, locally produced Redcliffe ware. [Au(adp)] |
