Abstract: |
A single 6m by 3.5m trench was excavated as part of an archaeological evaluation of the site in response to a condition upon planning permission for an extension to the present Tesco store. No significant archaeological remains were revealed and there was no evidence of human activity prior to the present century. Alluvial deposits, which lay over the London Clay, were probably derived from the inundations from the Pyl Brook, situated immediately to the north of the site. [Au(Ap)] |
