Abstract: |
During the watching brief, sections through the Carriage Drive, a grassy track which lead from the main house to the Duchess Gates at Broomhill, and a branch of the Drive were recorded. Map regression showed that the branch of the Carriage Drive was the original line of the Drive and it was not until 1913 that the other, more direct route to the Duchess Pond was constructed. Other features observed during the watching brief included a series of post-medieval land drains and an area of stone paving. [Au(abr)] |
