Abstract: |
Ten trial trenches were excavated as an evaluation of the site. Natural sandy clay was revealed at the base of each trench at between 13.63m OD in Trench 9 and 12.97m OD in Trench 1. The natural was overlain by modern made ground to a depth of 0.40m and by a tarmac or concrete surface. Trenches 1-9 revealed no surviving archaeological remains. Trench 10, located in the south-west corner of the site, revealed a NE-SW aligned linear ditch containing some prehistoric burnt flint. [Au(abr)] |
