Abstract: |
The survey identified a large number of known archaeological features within the immediate vicinity of the proposed area of works for the Cirencester Traffic and Environment Plan. However, the proposed groundworks were restricted in extent and would be of generally insufficient depth to impact on the archaeological resource. It was suggested that the major areas of potential archaeological survival would be in those places where the projected lines of the Roman street grid crossed the modern road system. The assessment demonstrated that these levels generally survived at a higher level than deposits within the Roman Insulae.[Au(abr)] |
