Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of the proposed site of an extension to a business park identified that cropmarks attesting the presence of archaeological sites, thought to have been of Iron Age or Romano-British date, lay within adjacent land. It was noted that, although features associated with the cropmarks could have extended into parts of the proposal area, none had been identified to date. A Grade II Listed farmhouse dating from the 17th century or earlier lay within the application site. It was concluded that the nature and significance of the archaeological remains represented by the cropmark complexes was not known, and could not be assessed further within the framework of a desk-based assessment.
