Abstract: |
A desk top assessment of a proposed development site within the historic core of Berkhamsted was undertaken. Activity dating from the Neolithic to the Roman period had been recorded in the surrounding area. The establishment and growth of the town itself had occurred after the construction of Berkhamsted Castle in 1070. An early 20th century clothing factory had lain on the site itself, until its replacement by a car-park during the 1960s. [AIP] |
