Abstract: |
The assessment (and a geophysical survey) implied the possible existence in the vicinity of a Cornish 'round'. It was possible that some of the field boundaries associated with the farm were of medieval origin, and may therefore have been classified as historic hedgerows within the terms of the 1997 Hedgerow Regulations. No evidence was found for the proposed 'round' during the assessment of the site as a whole, nor during the geophysical survey within the two areas considered to be of maximum potential. All the hedgebanks were potentially of medieval date. Banks H4, H5 and H6 had characteristics, which may have been indicative of this period. The main feature of interest discovered during the geophysical survey was a ditch in field B. This was likely to have been of medieval or earlier origin. [Au(adp)] |
