Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of proposed sand and gravel extraction. Two trenches were excavated across the historic boundary of the medieval chapel of Woodcote which lay in the development area. The evaluation demonstrated the survival of both the bank and ditch of the boundary where only one or the other could be seen in relief. It was also shown that maintenance of the boundary was periodically undertaken to combat erosion. No evidence however was recovered to date the construction or use of the boundary. [Au(adp)] |
