Abstract: |
Two evaluation trenches were excavated both of which contained archaeological remains. A number of pits and ditches were recorded indicating a possible settlement dating to the Roman/Saxon period, close to marsh or wetland immediately adjacent to Coldham's Brook. The land immediately to the west of the mill had been raised and levelled to create a flat terrace/garden during the 18th century. The visual survey of the building itself indicated that the surviving fabric dated to the 18th/19th century. Much of the fabric of the building was concealed by modern office fittings. [Au(abr)] |
