Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment and gradiometer survey was undertaken prior to proposals to redevelop the site. The SMR search revealed no evidence for archaeological evidence on the site itself, although sites of archaeological potential were identified in the surrounding area. In contrast, the geophysical survey identified several anomalies of apparent archaeological origin. It was thought that part of a possible enclosure/boundary feature was represented towards the eastern side of the survey area, with a number of less well-defined linear anomalies also present at the western end of the site. It appeared likely that these features represented multi-phase archaeological activity, although further work would be required to confirm this. [Au(abr)] |
