Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was conducted during the excavation of a new gas pipeline. A layer of made ground underlay the tarmac. This was of modern origin, as demonstrated by modern building materials within it and due to the layer sealing a culvert with a concrete cap. This made ground was disturbed by a large cut containing silts. Amongst these was a layer containing leather fragments which were probably off-cuts from a 19th century saddlery. No other features of archaeological significance were identified. [Au(abr)] |
