Abstract: |
Observation of underpinning and trenching for a boundary wall on a site across the line of the medieval town defences revealed no trace of the wall or ditch. Very deep post-medieval deposits over the whole area suggested that the site may have been quarried for stone in the early post-medieval period and then infilled with rubbish before the existing early 19th century cottages were built.
