Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out in advance of a proposed learning and disability centre construction. Four test pits were excavated. They revealed evidence of a well preserved waterlogged deposit, this was interpreted as the silty backfill of the pond, evidenced on the 1840 tithe map but not shown on the First Edition County Series Map (OS c.1880). Deposits in the other three test pits revealed evidence of the gardens of 'The Holt' constructed after 1840. [Au(adp)] |
