Abstract: |
An evaluation on land proposed for a retail development, situated within the limits of the medieval town of Tickhill, identified that the site had comprised three narrow-fronted burbage plots. The northernmost plot appeared to be most built-up at the rear and contained the remains of a later medieval building and associated yard. Some earlier features and deposits were located in the southern plots, including two groups of post-holes cutting the fill of a large feature of ambiguous nature, and sherds of 12th to 14th century pottery were recovered.
