Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site was undertaken. 8 Roman cremations were found on the site in 1927, and further cremations had been discovered nearby. Roman buildings, ditches and parts of the city wall had also been recorded in the area. Possible early medieval pottery and a sword hilt had been found, and the remains of medieval buildings had been excavated. The area was a centre of law inns for students from the 13th century. It was concluded that an evaluation should be carried out. [AIP] |
