Abstract: |
A desk-based appraisal of the proposed route for a new portable water transfer pipeline between Saledatel and Wensleydale identified 84 recorded archaeological sites within 250m of the works, ranging from a findspot of a Neolithic stone axe to 19th and 20th century mining complexes. There were three Scheduled Monuments within the vicinity of the proposed works, although none were directly on the proposed route. Two conservation areas were located within 250m. There were 23 Listed Buildings within the study area, mostly within the Conservation Areas. A number of the recorded archaeological sites would be affected by the proposed development, principally the earthwork remains of ridge and furrow cultivation. [Au(abr)] |
