Abstract: |
Archaeological trial trenching was undertaken across the site in order to establish whether any evidence of previously unrecorded archaeological remains or activity survive within those areas of High Moor that would be physically affected by the construction of the proposed wind farm. Thirteen trial trenches were excavated in selected turbine positions. No archaeological sites were identified in any of the trenches excavated. A single flint blade of Late Mesolithic date was recovered from one of the trenches. A trench was also excavated into a possible burial cairn on Cocker Hill to establish whether it was funerary in origin.. Three flint and chert artefacts were recovered from the cairn. The wind farm would have no physical impact on this monument. [Au(Adp)] |
