Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out on further works relating to the North Street flood alleviation scheme. A riverside wall of probable medieval date was uncovered, post-medieval buildings were built against the wall on the landward side and similarly a late medieval/early post-medieval building was constructed on the riverward side; this suggested that by this time the riverside wall had been superceeded by another riverside wall further into the river.
