Abstract: |
A series of investigations were undertaken to evaluate the archaeological implications of the proposed red and blue route options for the Melbury Abbas Bypass and C13 Improvement. A number of prehistoric sites were located. Concentrations of worked and burnt flint were identified after the removal of background levels. Although some machine trenches failed to locate specific subsoil features, the survey identified broader areas of prehistoric activity within the road corridors which had not been previously recorded.
