Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for visitor access improvement on the Castle mount, a Norman motte, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (19059). No archaeological finds or features were encountered during the removal of the gateposts. The alterations to the steps identified possible make-up layers associated with the mound and several sherds of post-medieval pottery were retrieved from the layers. [Au(adp)] |
