Abstract: |
A trial trench was excavated in the area where a terrace of houses was shown to have stood on an 18th century survey of the town. However, the structural deposits recorded in the trial excavation probably dated to the 19th century. Stoneware pottery of this date found in association with a construction trench for a wall supported the date for its construction. A second, contemporary wall and an asphalt floor with hardcore/makeup deposits were also uncovered. [AIP] |
