Abstract: |
Four trial trenches were investigated, some of which revealed evidence of medieval, post-medieval and modern activity. The evaluation of the site demonstrated that there were no significant archaeological features present within the areas investigated. The earliest archaeological evidence recorded in the site comprised a truncated, probable medieval, soil horizon, a handful of medieval pottery sherds, and a truncated gully. The vast majority of the deposits and features encountered at the site were derived from late post-medieval and modern activity within the gardens of Shardeloes. [Au(abr)] |
