Abstract: |
The proposed development was to consist of an extension to the northern end of Elmhurst Primary School. The site was located in an area of some archaeological and historical significance. There was a moderate potential for prehistoric remains, a low-moderate potential for medieval and post-medieval remains, and a low potential for Roman and Saxon remains. Cartographic sources showed that the site of the proposed development was used for agricultural activities and/or functioned as open land until the late 20th century, at which time Elmhurst Primary School was built on the site. The building of Elmhurst Primary School would have caused a negative impact to any archaeological deposits, particularly in the areas where the school's foundations were found. [Au(abr)] |
