Abstract: |
An archaeological field evaluation was carried out at the former Walsingham School, Bromley as a condition on the granting of planning permission for residential development. Seven trenches, each 20m by 1.6m, were excavated across the site. No archaeological features or deposits were observed in any of the trenches and the only artefact recovered was a single small undiagnostic broken flint flake. The paucity of the topsoil and compaction and contamination of the subsoil suggested that the area had previously been stripped onto the natural, probably during the course of landscaping for the former school grounds.[Au (adp)] |
