Abstract: |
The evaluation identified two broad categories of archaeological remains. The first were substantial cut features containing modern finds, probably arising from military exercises during the 20th century. The second group of features were shallow depressions filled with pale sand, some of which contained charcoal. The possibility remained that some of these may have represented prehistoric hearths. However, this could not be verified as no finds were recovered from the fills of any of the depressions. It was therefore impossible to determine whether these were man-made features or merely pockets of sand changed by intense burning. [Au(adp)] |
