Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of foundation trenches for garage buildings at a site which lay close to the possible site of Marmont Priory. This had been founded as a small Gilbertine priory in 1203. Its exact site was uncertain, but may have lain 400m to the north-east. During the watching brief, a thick deposit of silt which contained occasional modern finds was observed. No features or finds of archaeological interest were discovered. [AIP] |
