Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during ground disturbance works carried out as part of a two storey extension to Holford Hall, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. A former wing to the west range of the Hall was identified dating to the seventeenth century. A general deposit of clay pre-dating the present hall structure was also identified. This possibly represented a platform built from clay excavated from the moat, which may have been medieval in date. [Au(abr)] |
