Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken on the preparation of the site for the construction of the 'Gateway to Southwark' monument. This work involved clearing an area of land at the south end of London Bridge for the footings of the monument. During the work granite blocks were exposed which were part of the 1827 London Bridge. The remains of the bridge were recorded, and the London Borough of Southwark planned to leave the majority of the blocks in situ during the remainder of the construction work. [Au] |
