Abstract: |
<summary>Recording was undertaken of Old Furnace Cottages in advance of demolition. At least two phases of construction were identified. The first phase comprised the construction of the outer walls of the northern and central blocks, probably post-medieval buildings fulfilling some industrial purpose, consisting of a large single-storey hall attached to a smaller two-storey block. The second phase, occurring sometime in the late 19th/early 20th century, comprised the addition of brick partitions and fireplaces and the construction of a single-storey extension to the southern part of the building. A well was also sunk in this latter phase. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} GLOS12185 |
