Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site 700m to the south of Grim's Dyke, a Scheduled Ancient Monument of Iron Age date. Isolated finds dating from prehistoric to Saxon times had been found in the general area, although none had been recorded within 1km of the site. Five trenches were excavated, but no cut features were identified. Sherds of prehistoric, medieval and post-medieval pottery were recovered. It was concluded that no further work would be necessary.
