Abstract: |
The assessment identified eight archaeological sites and findspots within the study area, ranging in date from the Mesolithic to the post-medieval period. Of principle interest to this study was Place Farm which comprised the remains of a large E-shaped Tudor mansion. This included the former main range, and east wing (now a Listed farmhouse, barn and stables), and various outbuildings including a listed barn of probable 17th century date. In addition to architectural merit, a number of families and individuals of local and national importance had owned the property at various times.[Au(abr)] |
