Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation at St. Lawrence's Church, Napton-on-the-Hill, in trenches to the west and east of the mid-19th century vestry set against the north aisle, revealed a number of undated burials. Bedrock was revealed in the trench to the east of the vestry and 17 sherds of pottery dating from the 12-13th centuries were recovered from the mixed graveyard soil in both trenches. The vestry itself, which was proposed for demolition, was recorded photographically and by scale drawing. [Au] |
