Abstract: |
The standing remains on the site were recorded and three machine excavated trenches were opened across the site. The investigations revealed that most of the early buildings had been destroyed by a severe flood in 1864, following which, substantial redevelopment occurred, including the building of a new sluice and wheelhouses. Later expansion and the use of steam power kept the site in use into the 20th century. The buildings themselves were utilised for industrial processes until the late 20th century. [Au(adp)] |
