Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of the proposed site of a new office block was undertaken. Roman burials and a small number of prehistoric finds had been recorded in the surrounding area. Part of the site had been built on by 1658 or earlier. Three test pits and two trenches within basements at the site were inspected; 14th and 16th century pottery was recovered. Archaeological deposits of an indeterminate nature were observed, and it was concluded that an evaluation would be advisable. [AIP] |
