Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of service trenches. The site was part of a scheduled ancient monument described as Shell Keep Castle, part of associated outer bailey, ninth century and Civil War siege work. A linear feature was the only noteworthy find. It was undated and inconsistent with the line of the boundary ditch of the outer bailey although it could have been associated with the siege works.
