Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken during topsoil stripping at a quarry. An earlier phase of monitoring had not resulted in the identification of archaeological features. During the watching brief, it was noted that the topsoil overlay a red clay subsoil which was variable in depth. Its absence in some areas exposed the upper surface of the bedrock, and elsewhere it appeared to fill pockets in the limestone surface. No other archaeological features were observed, and no finds of archaeological interest were recovered. [Au(adp)] |
