Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of a proposed redevelopment site was undertaken. Occasional finds of prehistoric date had been recorded in the immediate vicinity. Early Roman sites had been excavated in the surrounding area, and late Saxon settlement had also been recorded. The site was considered to have potential for medieval occupation evidence. It was concluded that a large proportion of the potential remaining deposits would be destroyed by the development; an evaluation, perhaps followed by full excavation, was recommended. [AIP] |
