Abstract: |
The second phase of archaeological assessment in response to a proposed bypass consisted of trial trenching. This aimed at establishing archaeological features below the Holocene alluvium, and whether the alluvium was suitable for palaeoenvironmental study. No archaeological features were found beneath the alluvium, and no suitable organic-rich sediment for palaeoenvironmental analysis was recovered either. Trial trenching of an earthwork and ridge and furrow identified in earlier work demonstrated these to be of no archaeological importance. [Au(abr)] |
