Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment in response to plans to extend the opencast site located four cropmarks of archaeological features. These possibly refer to enclosures from Iron Age/Roman farmsteads. Medieval and later land boundaries were also located. The site also lies within the historic townships of Warkworth, Morster, Gloster Hill and Amble. Three groups of Listed Buildings lie close to the area, one of which is the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Warkworth Castle. [Au(abr)] |
