Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was undertaken in order to fulfil a condition upon planning permission for the the construction of an office building. An earlier evaluation of the site had identified archaeological remains probably of Middle or Late Iron Age date. The excavation revealed further evidence for Neolithic, Iron Age and other prehistoric activity across the site. A pit containing a Neolithic leaf shaped arrowhead, a boundary ditch (Neolithic/Bronze Age), which included an entranceway with a series of modifications to the layout, in at least three phases and a second boundary ditch was tentatively dated to the Middle or Late Iron Age were recorded. The majority of the remaining features, mostly pits, were undated. [AIP] |
