Abstract: |
Loxwood Place Farm is recorded in the West Sussex Sites and Monuments Record as a medieval moated farmstead. A total of eight large trenches were mechanically excavated at the site, after the demolition of most of the standing buildings, providing a stripped area of one thousand square metres. Features included a number of medieval post-holes, ditches and wall foundations. Finds included pottery, animal bone, ceramic building material, worked stone, metalwork and clay tobacco pipe. The trenches were left open after the excavation, at the request of the clients. [Au(adp)] |
