Abstract: |
An archaeological trench evaluation revealed evidence for Neolithic and Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint working associated with redeposited remains of possible burnt flint mounds. Roman occupation of this part of the flood-plain was evidenced from a series of north-west to south-east curvilinear ditches and, slightly further away, another ditch. Adjacent to this were found daub filled beam slots. Evidence suggested that the area was abandoned in the late 2nd century. A group of post-medieval banks and ditches were encountered. [Au(abr)] |
