Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of the proposed construction of dwellings on a site. Although the area of the site had been truncated, the single trench provided evidence for activity and included a ditch containing a collection of Roman pottery and several medieval pits and ditches. The Romano-British ditch was considered to be the most significant discovery, as no other definite features of this date were thought to have been excavated in Hedon. The presence of pottery suggested nearby occupation . The medieval features were presumed to represent occupation behind buildings fronting onto Market Hill to the east. A further watching brief was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
