Abstract: |
A resistivity survey was carried out within a walled garden dating from 1760, which lay within the grounds of Cannon Hall, a large house set in 70 acres of parkland. The survey was carried out in order to confirm the presence or absence and location of features shown in the original plans of the garden, in advance of proposed restoration work. A low resistance anomaly which was probably of cultural origin, three areas of high resistance which may have indicated building remains, and several high resistance anomalies which probably represented garden features and pathways from the 1760 design were identified. The majority of the anomalies represented visible modern features, primarily pathways. [AIP] |
