Abstract: |
Archaeological excavations revealed that the site of the proposed development lay astride an 18th century quay and associated docks. Finds recovered from the excavations dated the quay's construction to the early to mid 18th century. The earlier wall sealed beneath the quay probably represented a small quay or pier onto which small boats could be unloaded. No evidence was encountered for any early wooden structures or early reclamation deposits in the vicinity. [Au(adp)] |
